Deer Park is the place we were all hoping to be this weekend for the Bubbs Hill Bash 2020. We're very lucky to have our Centre Manager and his family living onsite and they have kindly put together this little quiz for all our Deer Park fans. But the question is, how well do you know Deer Park?
Do You Know Deer Park Quiz
So how well do you know Deer Park? We've been taking some photos from around the site but something's not quite right with the camera! It's zooming function seems to have gone haywire.
Answers will be shared on Sunday morning. |

A little bit of History
Ever wondered why Deer Park is called Deer Park?
In 1916 Mildred Humpidge started the first Guide Unit in Gloucestershire at Rodborough. In 1964 on her death, Gloucestershire Guide Association (now Girlguidng Gloucestershire) decided to set up a permanent camp site in her memory and so in 1967 we took up the offer of a 100 year lease of 3 acres at Cowley. We took possession of the land on 1 January 1968. On the site was a Cotswold stone deer hut (pictured) which was converted into a building for campers. Lady Poppy Wigram led the appeal fund to renovate the building. The new County Headquarters and camp training centre was opened on June 29th 1969. The following year, the World Chief Guide, Lady Baden Powell visited Deer Park as part of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations and presented Deer Park with a seat to mark the occasion. In April 1995, Girlguiding Gloucestershire purchased 21 acres of adjacent land on Bubbs Hill. |
